↑ This hosting error page is what every Google, Yelp, and NAPA directory visitor sees instead of Kavanaugh's website.

kavautorepair.com — the URL linked from Google, Yelp, the BBB, and the NAPA directory — returns a WP Engine hosting placeholder. Not a slow site. Not a broken page. The entire website is gone. Every click from every directory leads here.

Every customer who clicks to learn more, book a service, or check their hours hits a dead hosting screen instead of a business.

The Business

Kavanaugh's Complete Car Care Center has been a fixture in Louisville's South End since 1992. Owned by Phillip Kavanaugh Sr. and now run alongside his son Phil Jr., the shop is a NAPA AutoCare Center — backed by nationwide warranties — and has served the Belmar Drive neighborhood for over three decades. Customers who know them, love them.

Thirty-three years of word-of-mouth reputation. A NAPA certification that puts them in the top tier of independent shops. A father-and-son story that resonates with Louisville's South End community. By every measure that matters at the service counter, they're excellent.

Their website is a different story.

The Problem

When someone searches “auto repair Louisville South End” and clicks through to Kavanaugh's, here's what they find:

The Entire Website Is Gone

Their domain at kavautorepair.com returns a WP Engine “404 — not configured” error. Not a slow page. Not a broken page. The entire site is gone — replaced by the hosting company's placeholder screen. Every link from Google, Yelp, the BBB profile, and their NAPA directory listing sends visitors directly to that error.

“This domain is successfully pointed at WP Engine, but is not configured for an account on our platform.”

That's not a website. That's a dead end. Every motivated customer — someone who already searched for auto repair, found Kavanaugh's, and clicked through — hits this screen and has to start over.

No Online Presence to Speak Of

With the website gone, Kavanaugh's has no hours, no services list, no booking path, and no contact information online. A first-time customer can't verify they're open. A repeat customer can't confirm the phone number. A car owner comparing shops online won't even see them — because there's nothing to see.

Every Directory Points to the Error

Google, Yelp, BBB, and the NAPA AutoCare directory all link to kavautorepair.com. Every one of those touchpoints — the digital equivalent of a word-of-mouth referral — leads straight to a dead hosting page. The NAPA certification is supposed to differentiate them from competitors. Instead, it's a link to a 404.

What We'd Build

Pitchcraft built a spec concept for what Kavanaugh's could look like with a real website. Here's the vision:

A Homepage That Actually Exists

A clean, fast, mobile-first homepage with their story front and center: 33 years in Louisville's South End, family-owned and operated, NAPA AutoCare certified. A clear headline, a click-to-call phone number above the fold, and hours that are easy to find. The kind of page that answers the first three questions every new customer has — Are they open? What do they do? Can I trust them? — in under 10 seconds.

Services Page That Converts

A dedicated services page covering brakes, oil changes, AC service, diagnostics, and transmission repair — each with a brief description and a clear call-to-action. Not a wall of text, but a clean grid that helps customers identify what they need and book it.

Online Scheduling Widget

An appointment booking widget embedded on the homepage and services pages. Customers shouldn't have to call during business hours to schedule a routine oil change — they should be able to request a slot online and get a confirmation. This alone will recover appointments that currently go to whoever has an easier booking experience.

Trust Signals That Do the Selling

A Google reviews feed, the NAPA AutoCare badge prominently displayed, and a trust bar highlighting 33 years in Louisville and nationwide warranty coverage. Kavanaugh's has earned those credentials — the site should lead with them.

Local SEO Foundation

Proper title tags, meta descriptions, and local business schema markup — the technical foundation that helps Kavanaugh's show up when someone searches “auto repair South End Louisville” or “NAPA auto care Louisville KY.” A site that doesn't exist can't rank. A site built right can compete.

Spec Redesign Deliverables

  • Designed a new 4-page site: Home, Services, About, Contact/Schedule
  • Built a mobile-first layout with click-to-call and appointment booking above the fold
  • Created a services page covering brakes, oil changes, AC, diagnostics, and transmission
  • Added a live Google reviews feed and trust bar highlighting NAPA AutoCare and 33 years in Louisville

The Opportunity

Kavanaugh's doesn't have a marketing problem. They have a visibility problem. Three decades of loyal customers built their reputation — but that reputation can't travel online when their website is a dead hosting screen.

Every week that the site stays broken is another week of Google clicks that bounce, Yelp visitors who give up, and NAPA referrals that go nowhere. A first-time customer who needs brakes before winter doesn't wait — they click the next result.

Kavanaugh's has 33 years of trust in Louisville's South End. The only thing missing is a website that shows up.
